Fibrocystic Breast Disease DESCRIPTION Fibrocystic
breast disease is characterized by the presence of noncancerous lumps
in the breast. The cysts may vary in size, number, and composition.
Some may be fluid and some more solid. This condition is quite common,
occurring in approximately 60% of women between the ages of 25 and 50.
Again, these cysts are not cancerous and many doctors believe that the
condition represents only a variety of common states of natural change
in the breast and are not a disease at all.
A biopsy is the traditional medical method to make a certain
diagnosis of any lump in the breast.
Alternatives to a biopsy are available in oriental or energy
medicine. SIGNS/SYMPTOMS One
or more lumps may be felt in the breast tissue. While usually
painless, breasts may be more tender prior to or during menstruation.
Changes in the size or symmetry of the breast may also be noticed. CAUSE There
is no known cause for fibrocystic breasts, although injury, diet or
emotional conditions may be involved. Estrogen and other ovarian
hormones may influence the development of cysts. Traditional medicine
relieves the pain by draining fluid from the cysts.
Non-invasive cellular-release method is an alternative. NUTRITION PROTOCOL (for Fibrocystic Breast Disease) With
the condition of fibrocystic breasts, enzyme therapy supports overall
health and balance of the digestive, immune, and hormonal systems.
Particular attention is placed on fat digestion and liver support for
proper hormone regulation. Improper digestion of lipids has been shown
to play havoc on proper hormone balance. Since the pain and size of
these cysts very often increase just prior to menstruation, support of
the endocrine system may also alleviate some of the discomfort. Allowing
for adequate water intake (half your body weight in ounces daily) and
following a well balanced diet according to your body type is
suggested. A non-fat diet is not recommended. A diet balanced with
healthy fats such as olive oil, nuts, seeds, avocado, and fish oils is
beneficial. Maintaining an appropriate weight for your height is also
encouraged, as fat cells produce estrogen. *In
any condition where hormone imbalances are suspected, it is
recommended the attending health care professional will test and
determine the need for either natural or traditional HRT. Enzyme therapy balances the body in several ways. Enzymes work to improve digestion and nutrient acquisition. Enzymes support the immune system by building healthy organs and blood by reducing levels of toxicity from bacteria, viruses, parasites, heavy metals, pesticides, and radiation poisoning. **It
is important to address the patient’s diet, exercise, and lifestyle
on an individual basis and in regard to body type (see Digestive
Balance Protocol). Support
products are recommended as needed based on the patient’s condition.
Enzyme therapy can be used safely in conjunction with other
medical therapies. **The FDA has not evaluated these statements. These products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
